Eleanor - a PhD student at the University of Nottingham is looking for volunteers with lived experience of harmful gambling to assist her in a research project.
The research focuses on how gambling advertisements use metaphor and other visual/linguistic techniques to influence audiences.
This is a voluntary role and may not be suitable for individuals who may still find themselves being triggered by gambling advertising.

Behavioural Insights Team - LEAP

The Behavioural Insights Team in association with Bournemouth University are looking to recruit six people to join an Advisory Panel in support of a new study starting in October this year and running until December 2025.
This is a voluntary role but participants will be paid £750 for what is anticipated to be 30 hours time commitment over the study period.
"This study is interested in understanding individuals' experiences of using different tools and strategies to help them reduce or stop gambling, such as gambling management tools, self-exclusion, or online education. We are especially interested in the experiences of people from groups at risk of marginalisation (this could include but is not limited to women, individuals from the Black and Ethnic minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people experiencing mental health challenges or disabilities, those facing digital exclusion)."

Money and Mental Health PI - Research Community Members

The Money and Mental Health Policy Institute are looking to recruit individuals with understanding of Harmful Gambling to join their Research Community as part of their newly launched Gambling Harms Action Lab.
This is a voluntary role.
Money and Mental Health are a charity set up by Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis.
"We have just launched the Gambling Harms Action Lab, working with banks to improve their support for people. We have previously worked with banks around implementing gambling transaction blocks but there is more to be done.
To launch this important new project, we need your help. We are looking for people with experiences of gambling harms and mental health problems to join our Research Community, you will be taking surveys and testing tools so banks can provide the best support possible."

GambleAware - Lived Experience Council

GambleAware are looking for individuals with lived experience of gambling harms to contribute to join their existing Lived Experience Council
The Lived Experience Council forms a central part of GambleAware's structure and executive functions, acting alongside the Board of Trustees and "enabling the charity to meet the needs of their beneficiaries by ensuring that communities of people with lived experience of harms associated with gambling in Great Britain are able to provide expert advice to GambleAware’s activities, programmes and strategic development."
The LEC consists of up to 12 members, including a Chair, and existing members have strong connections with the wider LLE community, with many of them working for organisations and charities in the sector.
The initial term of office is 3 years, and it can be renewed once for a further 2 years (maximum of 5 years in
total).

Epic Restart Foundation - Head of Operations

EPIC Restart Foundation are looking to recruit a Head of Operations
This is a part-time (0.6 - 0.8 FTE) 2 year fixed contract position (Salary up to £43k pro rata) and is remote (home working) based.
"We are seeking a Head of Operations to work with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage a broad scope of operational functions, including workplace governance, people management, digital support, data and risk management. "
While this is not specifically a Lived Experience role EPIC Restart Foundation are founded and led by Lived Experience and having existing knowledge of harmful gambling as well as the other required attributes for the role would doubtless be seen in a positive light. It is certainly an amazing opportunity for someone with a passion to improve outcomes for those experiencing harmful gambling legacies to make their mark on the sector.

Centre for Military Gambling Research - Lived Experience Panels

The Centre for Military Gambling Research, in partnership with Swansea University are looking to recruit volunteers to join two Lived Experience Panels they are forming
Milgam Lived Experience Advisory Panel - The advisory panel will be set up to oversee all of the Centre’s research activities. This will involve a one-hour meeting to take place quarterly, at a location of members’ convenience (including online).
Members will receive a £25 shopping voucher for each hour of their time.
Friends and Family Lived Experience Advisory Panel - This panel is being set up to advise a research project focused on the impact that gambling has on the family and friends of military personnel. It is looking for family, partners, adult children and friends of both currently serving and ex-service personnel to advise in all aspects of study.

Bournemouth University - LGBTQ+ Communities

Bournemouth University's Responsible Gambling Project Team is looking for further volunteers to interview in relation to ongoing research into the impact of gambling on LGBTQ+ communities.
Details of the research carried out so far can be found here
In particular the team headed up by Dr Reece Bush-Evans is looking to interview:
- Individuals from the LGBTQ+ community who have experienced harm from gambling.
- Service Providers who have experience of offering treatment and support to LGBTQ+ individuals
Reece has already worked alongside Ygam and Gordon Moody as part of this research, and together they have attended various pride events to speak to individuals about gambling impacts, but Reece and the team would love to be able to speak to more people and more providers to build a comprehensive picture of what the specific needs of the LGBTQ+ community are, and how service providers can help create LGBTQ+ accessible spaces.
