North East London – Community experiences around gambling harms

Posted 21/09/2026

GLEN are interested in speaking to individuals living in six North East London council boroughs – Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, and Barking & Dagenham – who have experienced harm through gambling, either as a participant or as someone impacted by another’s gambling.

We are also interested in making contact with existing community organisations which have programmes supporting local residents around areas of social and financial need, addictions, mental health support and wider initiatives supporting community wellbeing.

This is part of a preliminary exploration as to how residents within these council boroughs may be able to help build greater understanding around how gambling impacts the lives of people living in these communities, as well as exploring how communities can be supported to prevent and reduce gambling harms at local and borough levels.

Initially we are simply looking to hold informal chats with interested parties to help us understand the depth of knowledge and resources already present in this part of London. As per GLEN’s Lived Experience involvement policy any individuals will be offered remuneration for time given to discussions or interviews.

If you feel this is something you are able to contribute to then we would love to hear from you. Please send us an email to info@glenetwork.org with the phrase “NE Footprints” in the subject title and including a very brief introduction to yourself explaining whether you are contacting us as an individual with your own Lived Experience or as a representative for a community organisation. If possible, it would be really useful if you could include the first part of your post code (not the full postcode) to allow us to better map contacts across the region and ensure full and representative coverage.

Thank you.
